Macao Beach is located north of Punta Cana, part of the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic. This beach is the fourth most tourist area of Punta Canaibi (the others are: Playa de Arena Gorda, Playa Bávaro and Ibero Alto), which ends with the Playa del Cortecito.
Like the rest of the beaches of Punta Cana, has a beautiful fine white sand, the sea is rough which gives the water a turquoise green, and is completely surrounded by palm trees. A beach worth visiting… Macao beach about 17 kilometers from the city of Higüey, belonging to La Altagracia, one of the provinces of the Dominican Republic.
There is so much space to explore and not many people. On one end of the beach you can enjoy calm water perfect for swimming and watching the fishermen come in on their small boats loaded with red snapper (chillo) and Caribbean lobsters ready to be bought or cooked and served either on the beach or back under the rich foliage sipping an ice-cold beer! Very primitive but a delicious experience!

Crystal clear waters and white sand beaches make Macau an ideal place to discover the authentic Caribbean. Because it is public, this beach attracts both distant travelers and locals close to home. Visitors won’t have to worry about pushy vendors or crowded beaches, either, making this an ideal spot for a morning stroll or a peaceful or active afternoon outdoors.
The importance of this beach is that it has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.
