Hoyo Claro a Spectacular Sanctuary!
Hoyo Claro is a wonderful cenote located in Punta Cana, this place includes a humid area of palm forests, with several lagoons, in the coastal plain of the East region and Hoyo Claro maintains an exuberant state of Virgin Tropical Forests. Each province has one or several places of recreation that characterizes them, but the East zone and specifically Punta Cana has taken the best part, since it is recognized worldwide for having several tourist attractions, not only sun and beach.
You can enjoy the dense vegetation that exists throughout the area and a refreshing swim in the cenote that many qualify as the most spectacular in the country and probably in the Caribbean. It ranges in depth from 3 to 35 feet. This cenote is perfect to spend a day with family or friends.
One of them, and not so well known, is the Hoyo Claro Natural Monument, located on the Verón-Punta Cana highway. A wetland ecosystem that houses a semi-humid tropical forest. The monument encompasses an area with lagoons, meadows of eneas and palm cana forests that is located in the coastal plain of the referred region and has an extensive swamp.
Among the wetlands, the Laguna de Hoyo Claro is one of the most important within this system. It also includes a part of La Jarda (a) limestone cliff where caverns abound. In the upper part of this formation is one of the few remains of the primary forest in the eastern part of the island.
To access it, the entrance does not have identification but in a booth of the Ministry of the Environment, which is located in its vicinity, you can ask for the necessary information, if you live in the country or if you are on vacation do not miss the opportunity to know that wonder of nature.
